River

River was a member of the Ghosts.

Dark eyes.

Mysterious.

Twelve years old. Came from Duwamish on a skiff, the sole survivor of a plague that killed everyone else on board. Sparrow found her foraging for food and brought her home. Hawk originally did not want her to stay, believing her weak and indecisive and hence easy pray for the Freaks until he discovered it was actually measured consideration and complex thought. She was slow and careful, “like a deep river, filled with secrets” according to Owl and Hawk named her accordingly.

She was later revealed to be the Weatherman‘s granddaughter.¹Armageddon’s Children – p 292
