Obsidian was the third and best Roc ridden by Hunter Predd.

Ilse Witch

His sharp eyesight allowed him to see Kael Elessedil before Hunter Predd did. He had already changed course by the time Hunter had seen Kael. When they reached him, Obsidian’s claws wrapped securely but gently around him and lifted him from the sea. Hunter guided Obsidian to a small atoll some miles from Mesca Rho. Once they arrived, he placed the rescued man on the sand and settled down on the rocks nearby.⁷Ilse Witch – pp 3-4
