Lauren was a member of the Chosen.

Lauren had always liked Amberle Elessedil and found her easy to talk to, despite her being the King‘s granddaughter.⁴The Elfstones of Shannara – p 11

The Elfstones of Shannara

He was the first one to notice the wilt on the Ellcrys. Jase offered Lauren his turn at greeting the tree to attempt to cheer him up. As Lauren went to greet the tree, he looked up and saw there actually was damage to the tree. He called the other Chosen over. With dawn approaching Lauren remembered that he needed to greet the tree and he placed his hands on the bark. Immediately, the Ellcrys spoke to him and asked him to have the other Chosen come to her which he did.⁵The Elfstones of Shannara – pp 10-15

Lauren attempted to see the King to tell him what was happening but was not allowed to see him. He then found Ander Elessedil instead and convinced him to take him to the King.⁶The Elfstones of Shannara – p 27

Chosen Part 1

When Amberle and Catania arrived at the starting point of the Gauntlet, he initially believed she was there to wish him luck. He was taken aback when she told him she was racing too and asked Catania if she approved. After Catania revealed she helped Amberle he recovered enough to wish her good luck.

Lorin had intended to ask Amberle to marry him if he became a member of the Chosen.

He completed the Gauntlet in first place.

After the ceremony, Catania snuck him past the Home Guard into Amberle’s room. When they were alone, he expresses his concern for her, revealing she had fainted at the ceremony.
