Whyl was brought in by Drumundoon for his knowledge of the local terrain. Pied Sanderling asked him a number of questions about the local area and about which way the enemy would likely come if they were to attack. Once he had answered the questions he was sent back to his unit and advised not to discuss what had been said with them. Despite his promise, he went on to tell his friends what had been said, in particular about the anticipated attack and that it might not turn out as well for the Elves.4Straken – pp 58-59
