The ruling family lived in a stately old mansion screened by trees and high shrubbery and hedges that bordered manicured gardens and fragrant gardens.²The Sword of Shannara – p 76 The house was a two storey stone building that lay amongst spreading hickories and small gardens. A broad park lay directly across from small walkway in front of the house. A pond was at the hub of the park’s walkways. Tall iron gates and a heavy oak door.³The Sword of Shannara – p 78

Leah was the major city of the Highlands and home to the Leah family.

The city was set apart from the rest of the world and only received infrequent visitors. It existed primarily to serve the needs of its people.⁴The Sword of Shannara – p 76
